Virat Kohli retired from T20 International cricket after India's T20 World Cup victory in 2024. His crucial innings of 76 runs in the final played a pivotal role in India's win.

In May 2025, he announced his retirement from Test cricket as well. However, his ODI career continues; in 2026, he expressed his commitment to playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
